How to Create Three Easy to Assemble Halloween Looks using All Black

If you are struggling to figure out what to wear for Halloween this year or perhaps don’t want to spend the money on an expensive (yet, cheaply made) get-up online, I am here to help. Here’s how to create three easy to assemble Halloween looks using all-black pieces you may already own and a few accessories.

I have provided affiliate links to items in this post and may earn a small commission if you follow the links I provide, at no additional cost to you. Just a way for me to make a few extra bucks to maintain my wine-drinking habit (oh, and this blog). Thank you in advance for your support. My name is Danielle and I like wine.

Sandy from Grease

I am not sure we should even be friends if you haven’t seen this iconic American musical. Love or hate the film, doesn’t matter. What does matter is that Sandy (played by Olivia Newton-John) seriously kills it (and everyone at the carnival) when she arrives in this number. A serious transformation from her sweet and innocent “Sandra D.” classic 1950’s school girl garb–and a look that is still super chic today.

All you need are some tight black pants, a fitted black top, black leather jacket, gold hoop earrings and heels–preferably red, but not necessarily required.

Oh, and don’t forget the big hair, red lips and cigarette. You don’t have to smoke it, but you do have to fake it.

I created my “Sandy” look using the following all-black pieces from my closet:

Faux Leather Leggings
Bodysuit
Moto Jacket

Witchy Woman

Another requirement to be a part of the Highway 20 Collective tribe is to have a love for Fleetwood Mac . . . more specifically, Stevie Nicks. If I need to tell you why . . . then . . . well . . .

this is awkward . . .

I suppose you can stay, but we obviously need to have a serious conversation about your taste in music. And women. And you, well, you can just go as a regular witch, I suppose (insert eye roll.)

You don’t need to have any magic spells to create this all-black look. Just a black dress (or top and skirt) and a witch hat. If you really want to go “full-Stevie” rock a top hat.

My “witchy-woman” look came together using my black bodysuit under a black maxi-dress (with gold accents), a black vest, black shawl with fringe and witches hat I purchased a Walmart centuries ago . . . in Salem . . . when I became a witch . . . before they burned me at the stake.

If you don’t have a vest, you could also use a classic, black blazer.

Black Cat

I used to have an all-black cat named “Gypsy” (another Stevie nod) in college. That cat saw some wild and crazy stuff. She moved with me to Vegas after college and then disappeared.

I think she opened up her own cat brothel and is now the ruling Cat Madam of the Desert . . . or she developed a serious gambling and drug problem and is still in and out of rehab.

Either way, I never saw her again. Probably shouldn’t have named her Gypsy.

Understanding Black Dog and Black Cat Halloween Myths
Not my actual cat. But could be a dead ringer.

Since then I have always been wary of black cats thinking it may be my Gypsy come back to haunt me. So, to keep her spirit at bay . . . this costume is in honor of her.

I apologize in advance for blowing your mind with the brilliant creativity used to create this look. I know, I know, sheer-freaking-Halloween-genius here.

Sexy Cat Madam

I paired the black bodysuit and black leggings with some sweet cat ears (which I made–tutorial here), and black knee boots. You could also just buy the ears and tail from the costume section. But that, my friends, is not my style.

Alternative Cat Looks

Go comfy with a black sweatshirt, black joggers, booties (or hell, any black shoe).

Or office appropriate with a black skirt or black pants, black top and heels.

But whatever you do, don’t forget the ears.

Oh, and if you want some more juicy details about my stint in Vegas (no, I wasn’t a stripper . . . but I should have been . . . they make all the money) and my love life–here’s a read for you.

And if you want more Halloween fun, check out these posts.

Cheers!
